Queen
Elizabeth National Park (QENP)
Which of the 3 parks is
your first choice, I chose Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth National park (QENP),
the most visited park in Uganda. It is located in the Western Region of Uganda,
spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri. The park was founded in 1952 as
Kazinga National Park. It was renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by
Queen Elizabeth.QENP is approximately 400 kilometres by
road south-west of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. The park includes the Maramagambo
Forest and borders the Kigezi Game Reserve, the Kyambura Game Reservwe and the
Kibale National park in Uganda, and the Virunga National park in the Democratic
Republic of Congo.
While
still dreaming of cruising with the boat from Mweya sector of the park, QENP awaits you
with its known abundant wildlife, get ready to encounter the hippopotamus and
Nile crocodile. When you extend your trip for a game drive, great chance for
you to spot/sight and come close face to face to these incredible species like African
buffalo, Ugandan kob, giant forest hog, warthog, African bush elephant, African
leopard, lion and chimpanzee. It is home to 95 mammal species and over 500 bird
species. Above all QENP is famous for its tree-climbing lions and they are
found in area around Ishasha in Rukungiri District.
What
if you chose boat cruise on River Nile in Murchison falls National Park? Still
you have unforgettable memory after sailing on the mighty breath taking Nile in
the park. MFNP is Uganda's largest national park. It measures
approximately 3,893 square kilometres. The park is bisected by the Victoria
Nile from east to west for a distance of about 115 kilometres. The park is the
location of the Murchison Falls, where the waters of the Nile flow through a
narrow gorge only 7 metres wide before plunging 43 metres. Also the park’s adjacent to the Masindi-Gulu
Highway, are the Karuma Falls.
MFNP is located in north-western
Uganda, spreading inland from the shores of Lake Albert, around the Lake
Victoria Nile up to the Karuma Falls. The park straddles the Ugandan districts of Buliisa, Nwoya,
Kirandongo and Masindi.
It takes 72 kilometres dirving distance from Masindi
the nearest large town to the Kibanda area of the national park. Now this is
where you are soon to believing the beauty and wildlife diversity in MFNP.
Beside the boat cruise here there are much more to make a glance at from their
natural habitat. Be ready to meet a great memory of these incredible species
which includes herd of African buffaloes, African bush Elephants, Lions (King
of the jungle), Uganda kob, Rothschild’s giraffes and many more. Do not forget
